The 1998 National Poetry Slam is being run by a small,
brave band of volunteers that are doing their all to make sure that this tribe of hundreds
of poets gets treated to a bash of unprecedented magnitude - the kind of party that only
Austin can throw. To do this, we need the support of the entire Austin community.
Individuals or businesses can get involved through any of these channels:
Volunteer
If you'd like to get your hands dirty, we have a number of volunteer positions available. We'll need help with all angles of hosting and event of the size and scope of the NPS, including stage managing, production, transportation, computer scoring, and the like.

Above all else, do yourself a favor and attend a bout or two.
Advertising Opportunities
Your business can benefit from the indulgences of the hundreds of poets that will travel to NPS '98, and from the exposure to the huge audiences that these events will draw. Talk to any of your friendly, local NPS organizers who will gladly explain at length about the big splash that we're planning to make. Your advertising will appear in the program given away to the sell-out crowd at the paramount and in a "Guide to Austin" handbook which will be given to the visiting poets and NPS Registrants to show them where should visit, shop, and eat during their stay.
