THE SOFTBALL GAME

The annual East vs. West (dividing line is the Mississippi River) Softball Game will take place Friday, August 21, 11 a.m., at the Sunken Gardens Park softball fields on Robert E. Lee Street, just across the street from the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. To get there from downtown, take 5th westbound to Lamar, take a left on Lamar, cross the river, take a right on Barton Springs, take a left on Robert E. Lee, and it will be to your right. We're hoping this will be a barbecue affair, and as Danny Solis said in SlamNation, "In poet softball, you have about 12 people in the infield and 50 people in the outfield, and the object is to be as clumsy as possible so people can laugh at you." Please bring gloves. We'll provide everything else, possibly including the rumored Keg at 2nd Base.
Word has it that Shappy and Wammo will be doing play by play from the pressbox.
