| Score: 0Peeps, Get down to the Scoot Inn (4th and Navasota) for another booty kicking version of AUSTIN POETRY SLAM this Wednesday at 8 pm, open slam with $100 in cash prizes on the line hosted by your pal TONY JACKSON. Our featured poet this week is CHRIS CHANDLER. This is a poet who has been on the road constantly for twenty years rocking mics. He's been showing us the way here in Austin since back before anyone had ever heard of a Poetry Slam. Chandler has been there, seen it, and is coming to tell you about it. Check his info below. Mark your calendars for 2.25 -- an ALL-WOMEN'S SLAM AND SHOWCASE as we pick a poet to rep us at the Women of the World Slam Championships. | Score: 0Hey folks, We've had a string of killer nights of late at AUSTIN POETRY SLAM's weekly Wednesday assault on the lovely Scoot Inn, corner of E 4th and Navasota. Get down with us tonight for another one -- 12 poets on the mic, 5 judges from the audience, $100 in cash prizes. This Wednesday longtime rocker of our mic PETER NEVLAND takes the guest hosting spot. Sure to be a blast -- go yell "SKREEK-A-WAKKA" from time to time at Peter. He'll thank you for it. Really. Slammaster out. | Score: 0This Wednesday, mosey on out to the Scoot Inn for another lovely Austin Poetry Slam!!! This week we're having our regular slam (12 poets, open sign-up, $100 dollars on the line)... Plus for the first time, witness the incomparable guest host stylings of the one and only Ms. Rialistic, a four-time team member of San Antonio's Puroslam, and now a local Austin favorite!!! And we'll have a dynamic powerhouse triple feature from Michelle Desiree, Faylita Hicks (both multiple time members of Team Austin Neo-Soul), and the fabulous Staci Shea, a regular host at Kick Butt Coffee! They're kicking off a tour together and we'd like to send them off right, so be sure not to miss this amazing show! Then coming up this Saturday, December 13th, it's the second Youth Slam of 2008! This event will be held at 501 studios and has consistently proven to be an amazing showcase of talent from Austin's young poets. If you know someone who's under 21 and interested in trying slam, this is what you've been looking for. And just to preview next week, on December 17, before taking a 2 week break for Christmas and New Years, we'll end the year with a bang and our good slam master Mike Henry taking up the hosting mantle once again! Featuring Christian Drake, touring poet and a multiple time team member of team Berkeley, CA, this promises to be one of the biggest shows we put on all year. -WM.DNY Posted by austinsl Tuesday, December 09, 2008 (09:41:57) comments? |
| Score: 0Don't miss the Austin Poetry Slam tonight! Hosted by Danny Strack!!!!!!! Why shouldn't you miss it? Well gee, lots of reasons! Big Poppa E will be be there again and he's slamming this week, so anyone who was at last week's show and only got to see him host and haiku, get ready to see what the excitement is really about! Also, it's the Thanksgiving slam, where you can read poems about the holiday, or what you're thankful about, or whatever you want. The truth is, you can read poems about christmas if you feel like it. Plus we traditionally have a baked goods and mixed drink contest every thanksgiving slam. We didn't advertise it this time, so this may not actually happen this year, but if you do decide to whip up a desert and bring it out, you could win by default (and we would all enjoy some pie.) Why else? We pay $100 to poets every week! Come out and support the spoken word fireworks!!! Webmaster out. Posted by austinsl Wednesday, November 26, 2008 (20:10:54) comments? |
