  <description>Who will represent Austin at the 2009 Individual World Poetry Slam??

Come cheer for Austin&#039;s top ten ranked poets as they compete to be the one and only APS representative at the 2009 Individual World Poetry Slam in Berkeley, California October 8 - 10.

The poets will compete in a three round battle consisting of a three-minute poem, a two-minute poem and a one-minute poem with the top two scoring poets advancing to a head to head four-minute round. The winner will be sent to represent ATX at iWPS in October!! Check out the hot list of poets:

After a rockin&#039;, successful stint at the Scoot Inn, Austin Poetry Slam is saying goodbye. The last slam at the Scoot is tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 12th at 8:30 p.m. So, come down and help us go out in true slam style by doing what we do best: drinking beer, getting rowdy and slamming some mutha-lovin&#039; poetry. Co-hosted by Mike Henry and Big Poppa E. Open sign-up, $100 in cash-money prizes. $5

This is an exciting new chapter for APS and we couldn&#039;t be more thrilled to call The Independent home.
